14 MagNet members present research at XIV SOPCOM Congress in Portugal

Fourteen members of MagNet (Magazine Media Research Network) presented communications at the XIV SOPCOM Congress – Communication and Time, held from 9 to 11 February 2026 at the Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI) in Covilhã, Portugal. The event is the main national conference in communication sciences in Portugal and brought together researchers, teachers and professionals to discuss themes at the intersection of communication and temporality.

MagNet researchers had a significant presence in the scientific programme. Ana Figueiras, Carla Cerqueira, Carla Bento Guedes, Carla Rodrigues Cardoso, Cristina Santos, Dora Santos-Silva, Helena Lima, Ilo Alexandre, Jorge Pedro Sousa, Marta Lopes, Pantelis Vatikiotis, Paula Lopes, Pedro Marques Gomes, and Sónia Lamy presented papers across different thematic panels and working groups, with several contributing more than one communication. In addition, some served as chairs of parallel sessions, while others moderated plenary sessions, contributing to the coordination of academic debate. The scientific programme can be accessed here.

MagNet is an international network of researchers in Magazine Studies, hosted by MagLab at CICANT | Universidade Lusófona. It unites scholars worldwide who study all forms of magazines.
